generally it depends on the series and the expectations for that series you cant move away from the series traditions or make something nonsense at all
the gameplay and the design are important too but the game must stay true to its name and not pretend to be something else
example the expectations for uncharted isnt the same as lets say sly cooper but both games must feel like home for fans to be considered as a good game its hard to make that balan...
