Because MS wants everyone to believe they monetize you better than everyone else. "Ahead of the industry" nope sounds like right in line with the rest of the industry actually.

So now previous relationship is a requirement when you fear MS might loose another developer? Ok well in that case Microsoft better not buy any developer they haven't published games for in the past.
You guys can use buzzwords like ecosystem all day long and talk about who owns Windows and where the money goes and blah blah blah and that's all great everybody already knows that but at the end of the day what it means is people can play all their games without buying their unneeded and unnecessary console, end of.
