the PS2 had 32 players online with SOCOM and to this day the 360 only has BATTLEFIELD 24 players and one game that supports 50 players on one level. Frontlines. So i don't know where you are getting this 2-4-8 crap. HALO has always had 16 players from the beggining right.
After RESISTANCE 2 comes out with 60 players online, and 8 player co-op on line while GEARSOFWAR2 is going to out with 16 online(probably)
don't you think that $50 seems a litle too steep for ONLY 16 players ...

i think these two games are great for comparing the two "high power" next gen consoles.
both are 3rd person shooters
both are arguably the best game on their respective console
both were released at least one year after consoles launch
both displays amazing graphics (that really set the bar on consoles)
i bet there are a lot more comparisons too.
MGS4>Gears1 IMO (and probably going to be better than Gears2 also.)

1st you got it on the post # 4.20
2nd xbox HAS made a big "dent" and yes the XBOX1 had some nice unique features. (things i like on my ps3, online network (dreamcast originally) and Hard drive (PC originally)
and i do prefer Easrtern/Japanese games (not to say i don't love FPS and GTA's)

i beat resistance and gta4 100% and it would be nice to get a trophie for that. MGS4 trophies are a must.

the ps1 d-pad is the best d-pad ever made especially for street fighter and 2-d fighters. just because the 360 d-pad is unusable don't rag on something that's been best for the past decade. on four playstations! <that's MY "crappy" opinion.
