I'm not 100% sure about the dev time for GT5, but I know it's at least 4-5 years. Probably not 6. Still it's been a while.
I think most people will agree that with 6 years to develop GT5 we all had an idea that this game would be close to perfection as possible. So averaging 86% favorability on metacritic might be perceived as a failure to some. Without the hype maybe this game is a sleeper hit. Turn 10 may have started this bragging war, but so far as it stands, during this generation their games are averaging better scores.
