be aware of the difference between a "hacker" and a "cracker". "hackers" are programmers dedicated to understanding how things work, and without them, you wouldn't have any games to play. "Crackers" are those who seek to break software encryption, bypass security within programs, and make piracy possible. Beyond that, I agree with your comment.
I advocate no form of theft. The system upon which it occurs is irrelevant. While I do agree that competition improves production in the long run (capitalistically speaking), theft only improves one market: security. Those who steal games only improve the security of the games that follow the stolen game, not the games themselves.

Microsoft does own the Halo Intellectual Property, so that particular game will not likely come to the PS3.
