It has nothing to do with not affording it. PC gaming doesnt cost much more than console gaming. You are talking about literally only about a 200$ difference if that much. (For the PS3, the 360 is actually more expensive).

You are wrong. You assume that $1 from amazon = 1$ from gamestop.
Thats not the case. Money gained from amazon can only go toward purchases on amazon website, and as you mentioned for gamestop the case is the same.
since amazon has better deals (generally cheaper prices) your $1 will go further there rather than gamestop.
If you are using gamestop you are losing out.
