Microsoft hadn't fully established themselves as a competitor and entered the race too late, and nothing else in the market offered the gaming experience that ps2 did. It wasn't any better of a console nor were the games of any higher quality than the ps3, it just hit the market at the perfect time

Lol I assume based off the 6.9 number that you're using vgchartz as a source. In which case X1 has only sold 4.2. It was only able to outsell ps4 one week in march, the titanfall release week. The game that had the hype unlike anything else this gen or even last gen other than maybe gta 5. And they still had to bundle the game with the console for free just to get those numbers. Then the following week ps4 was back to double X1s numbers. Nice try
