My opinion I don't think people are not looking for game designers to re-invent the wheel but to improve it.
example: take any of the more recent cod games and just simply improve the Hit Detection because as it stands now! Cod has the worst hit detection in the industry! The title they stole from cliffy's gears 1 & 2 but not 3. Designated servers rock!

Also there are ways to addressing campers. Design a game call "run around like idiots".. Stand still for 20 seconds and u blow up or be detected. Or if u don't like camping play head quarters! Play death match and c...

Throw in bad spawning, lame knife kills, akimbo, drag scope and quick scope.. And client side server that rewards bad connections

Cod fans make fun of cod... All I hear when playing cod is people complaining about pore hit detection.
Hit detection is getting worst with each new title. If they don't support Designated servers, then no one with a good Internet net connection speed will play this game. MW4 was an absolute joke if you had 25mb to 50mb connection speeds. Was so bad when I lag my self down to 10mb.

iTunes is a drm and the music industry loves it.
I am afraid of drm because I think Xbox will make a killing off of it.
Weather you like Xbox or play station. DRM will rule the industry sooner than later. Sucks but everyone is doubting the power of protection.
I can also see the industry profiting more off of it... There are already Incentives for designing for one system over the other.
