i use my PS3 just as much as well but i do love getting 3 years subs to the superior Xbox Live service for less than the normal price for a year all the same :-)
Sony also have a paid for £39.99 a year service (Playstation Plus) when they can keep the service online that is :-), M$ have a free service called silver so surely comparable no?

So if you buy a second hand car which is 6 months old you have to pay extra to the manufacturer to transfer the warrenty or even more rediculous if you buy petrol for a car your not allowed to have any passengers travel in it unless they pay an additional fee?
The online passes have nothing to do with the price of games, it's nothing more than publishers being greedy, they sell 1 copy of a game and that one copy should as part of that game's functionality as publish...
With games such as Battlefield BC2 never getting higher than 3rd most played on Xbox Live despite the games in 1st and 2nd places being over a year or more older i would suggest it's very clear that publishers attempted greed to counter second hand sales is damaging their games.
Why should someone who buys a game second hand have to play online, the person who originally bought the game is nolonger playing it!
