It's more powerful than most PC's available right now but PC's are ever evolving upgradeable things so they can't be made obsolete, the only thing that would make them obsolete in terms of gaming is if Devs stopped releasing games on the platform.
It remains to be seen if X is upgradeable as many have theorised, then it will be giving the PC space an even thorough run for its money.

They wouldn't wouldn't be able to milk people for nostalgia if they released the full game now would they.
I beat it and thought it was a good level of difficulty, wasn't heaps easy but I wasn't ripping my hair out either and Im really only a filthy casual these days.
It's shitty that they have split it up, it's purely to milk players yet because it's ff7 and hugely because of nostalgia that it gets an easy pass. Not getting my money till maybe it's released in a package a few years from now.

From those screen shots it looks rather barren compared to the original, I know they were just 2d back drops but there was so much going on in each scene, it looked chaotic, a shit tonne of rubble and glass and bits n peices strewn about everywhere. I hope they put more in there.
I remember thinking all the way through this game "man these people are dumb, its blindly obvious that this guy is fucked up and is manipulating you, he's going to ruin you!, why aren't you getting as far away as you can?!"
