It should be more like a character action hack and slash game. No stamina bar and stupid crap.

Well the alternative is to copy the superior extreme action hack and slash games like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden.
Those games require a level of programming skill and knowledge a handful of developers can pull off.
Imitations range from okay (Lords of Shadow) to mediocre (Dantes Inferno) to garbage (insert generic hack and slash game)
Souls combat is way more simple and you dont have to program in complicated inputs and jumping air combos and animation...
