The iPhone's getting all the good new IPs just now. Bet the PSPgo is feeling a bit jealous right now...
Haven't watched in ages - still funny. Though I agree, he needs to change the record I think, he's getting a bit too comfortable. It's still Charlie Brooker-Lite with clever animations.
Can you spell antidisestablishmentarianism. What only six letter words allowed? No fair!
Yeah, but I draw the line at Happy Feet.
Ok, I have been playing Doom Resurrection all morning and I can confirm that it's very good indeed. I was a bit worried about the on-rails thing to begin with but it works really well and there are loads of really cool little innovations in there that keep the gameplay fresh. And, most important of all, the double barrel shotgun from Doom II makes a comeback which is ace. Best FPS weapon ever.
Hopefully it will pave the way for some good iPhone versions of Quake etc.
Surely due another revival? Maybe as a stripped down PSN/XBLA title so there isn't too much pressure for it to sell a squajillion units. The last game succumbed to hype and inflated industry expectations something awful.
I heard that Project Natal kicked a homeless person the other day. Then it set fire to an orphanage. Meanwhile the PS3's motion controller was helping a little old lady cross the street.
It's odd how few WWII themed games there are on the iPhone. This one looks kind of interesting - at least it's not another FPS!
Good to hear - it'd be a shame to lose such a classic game. I still think ngmoco should include the first game free with Rolando 2. If they were going to pull it from the App Store anyway, then what do they have to lose?
It's mad how much Carmack loves the iPhone. I think it's great, it's just odd that he seems to big up that platform more than any other, including all the under the TV consoles. It's interesting in that, he never gave this much love to the DS or PSP. I suppose he like the open nature of the handset.
The fact that the source code for Doom Classic will be made freely available is evidence of that.
I'm a little disappointed that this is an on-rails effort, but I suppose it's better than poorly implemented FPS controls. I'm downloading now, can't wait to play it!
Another reason to keep plane-ing
This license lends itself to film much more so than countless other games out there. If done right it could be the best thing since the Indiana Jones series. It'll no doubt be a meat head explosions fest with no sense of humour though. I hope I'm wrong.
I hope the engine is a bit grittier, a bit darker. I'm not talking Killzone amounts of grey, but at least lots less jarring purples and greens. This series needs to get a bit more militant I think.
I have to say, though I enjoyed Halo 3, there were none of the heart stopping set pieces I was hoping for. Bungie ought to take a note out of Infinity Ward's book on that score.
He was always such a charismatic chap - he gave a great EDGE interview just prior to the launch of Reset Generation. Nokia really ought to have pushed him to the forefront a bit, he was a great personality for the company. I'm sure he'll go on to bigger and better things mind.
Seriously, what are Digital Chocolate's devs on? How did they come up with this? I don't care really, the first game was brilliant.
As if this dangerously addictive game needed even more reasons for me to play. Can't some of my other iPhone games have a chance. I've barely played UniWar but I can't put Flight Control down!
Great list, I'm all in for those titles. Though I have to say, though maybe it's a bit too recent to be included, I think the multiplayer aspect of F.A.S.T. is pretty phenomenal (though it could do with slightly busier lobbies).
What would really make this title shine would be if Ngmoco included a legitimate level editor so people could get making maps without jailbreaking their handsets. Imagine the levels we'd see then! Maybe we'll get one in an update later.
