From what I read the issue isn’t with the story but with political stuff behind the curtains . Some people mad that they omitted some stuff that represent China . Maybe I’m wrong but I Believe they probably did so to avoid offending more people by giving them a bad representation of such character or lore ( Chinese history and lore ) the 2nd part of the issue seems to stem from the fact that the guy went on a rant and started to bash black people out of nowhere ? Well to be fair people who buy street fighter and play it on a daily basis are fighting game fans . Even if some don’t buy the new characters anybody interested in keeping the fun going will go for the new characters . Also today’s character models take time and much resources to be made .
