Well, if true about no physical. Another game not getting a sale from me , it joins the ranks of Alan wake 2 , and the yakuza shown at ms conference. Each of these games is big enough to be pressed physically. There's no excuse , even the bs excuse they gave for Alan wake 2.

I'd say try one of the older final fantasy games. 6, 7, or 9. That's final fantasy at its best.

Far as the indie scene, it was pretty prevalent back during snes, ps1, and even ps2. Alot of games back then were probably indie they just weren't called indie. Term indie is something more recent.
I take it a step further Crimson I'd add snes ps1 ps2 era. Snes had fantastic games then ps1 came along and kept the bar high , ps2 came and upped it really high. Then everything washed with ps3 360 way to many first person shooter and focus on online play.
Not to say there weren't good games on them(ps3 360) at all.
I feel gaming is in a good spot now to an extent. Indies are doing an incredible job making up for top companies not taking risk anymore....
He did good imo but i completly disagree with the point of one of the best in the series. I'm guessing a the writer is barely in their 30 maybe 25 to 30. I'd also guess he hasn't played much of the series.

Idk I feel some time these people that think like this feel they need to beat the game in one sitting or two. It's not the case and it's OK to milk a game for awhile. I put 200 something hours into dq11 and it took me a few months. I'm good with that. I also feel I got more then my money's worth out of it. I'm not saying you don't get your money's worth out of smaller games though I'm just saying it's OK to play a game in more then 2 sittings.

I'm cool with remakes especially some more jrpg remakes, although sometimes a straight remaster would do. Alot of snes and ps1 games I never got to play due to well just life growing up. I cannot wait for suikoden 1 and 2. To this day I've only played a ps2 one. Can't even remember which one. Word is suikoden is even getting a physical release so that's a fking bonus.

I know what you mean flawless. For me though I'm kinda mixed. I've enjoyed dragon quest 11, star ocean 6 recently and put 150 200 hours into each. To me it's just a game by game basis. I like open world games and linear ,semi linear.
I hope ff16 doesn't set the standard for boss fights. They are intense and stuff don't get me wrong I just did drakes breath section of the game. I just feel let games do what they do. Other devs dont need to copy. Variety is good. Also debatable if their the best in the series. I beg to differ
