about Sony charging for it's online service has also been rumoured to be delayed and is also rumoured to coincide with the update for cross-game chat...which BTW is rumoured to be impossible to implement as Sony would have to have all game devs agree to give other game devs access to their servers...news at 11...

But there are plusses & minuses to both networks.
For example, I can still play online on various old titles dating back to the launch of XBL. But in time, devs shutdown their servers like Sega did w/Chromehounds & EA does when it's sports titles get old - Madden 06, etc.
That's what PSN is susceptible to with games like Warhawk, etc. They aren't obligated to anyone to keep their servers running *forever*.

It's not the dev-it's Sony's network!
When you play online-you can only play against/with other people in the region of your psn id. So if you wanna play against people outside your region-then u have to create an id for said region.
You wanna talk about what's up to the devs;
FACT: Everyone rants about PSN having dedicated servers.
FACT: Not ALL PSN games have dedicated servers.
FACT: Everyone rants about XBL being P...
There's way more to XBL than what any Sony fan will tell ya!
BTW will ya be able to party up on PS3 and watch a movie with up to 8 online firends?
And that is 8 friends ANYWHERE in the world-not just in your local REGION. Cause ya know-XBL isn't region-based like PSN is.

I installed it on all my home network PCs; Ultimate & Professional on my desktops and Ultimate on my laptop!
I love how you can push a movie or other media files from the PC to the 360 via MediaCenter now!
I don't see anything but speculation so let me state some of my "facts";
1. PS3 online maybe free but you are limited to playing with/against people on a regional basis. It's servers is also subject to being shutdown by the devs-anytime they see fit to do so. And just like the PC online, the devs will never put out a tool or program that'll allow gamers to communicate from one game to the next (x-chat). Though Sony should at least make the 1st party devs do this. IMO ...

the orig. Ghost Recon-but more capabilities (vehicles, swimming, climbing, etc) Too bad the dead disappear (unlike the orig. GR).
It also reminds me of Men of Valor! A title that flew under the radar, had problems w/multiplayer but was still ENJOYABLE.
There's no middle ground for this type of game; either gonna love it or hate it.

PSN is region locked! Yea u can create different accounts for different regions but no SINGLE account can access ALL regions-H8r!

PCs & console online systems have their fundamental issues. It's totally up to the individual and what satisfies him/her!
PC online is free (unless it's certain popular MMOs) but the service is based on the individual game devs who can shutdown or change servers at will. There's also no unified system that will notify you when friends are online & what...
I could argue that the xbox's RRoD issues are justified (to a degree); they rushed to come out 1st...which ultimately paid off, so u can't blame 'em.
I could also argue that Sony had more time before PS3 dropped so it should have even less problems that we see.
But I could argue further still that Sony took a chance (just like MS did by coming out 1st) with hardware that was never proven or tested (Cell & BluRay) which makes YLoD seem slightly justifiable.
