It's funny how it seems the PS3 is going to be the console for these types of games, like Heavy Rain and The Last Guardian. I don't think lots of the games kale said really are those types of games though, with platformers and shooters making that list. What were really need is more Heavy Rains, Dreamfalls and Mass Effect had a good story (unfortunately the gameplay on Mass Effect wasn't amazing though). Actually one game that had a really good story was Mirror's Edge, that game is soooo unde...
Come on, don't try to be a fanboy here. They've said it's going to ditch the open world and that's fact. Sam Lake has told people this and heres one link that proves it: http://www.totalvideogames....
I've been really really looking forward to Alan Wake for a long time, but I really am disappointed with how they've changed it since the original plans for the gam...
They weren't done in-game, that's just the fact. They were pre-rendered cutscenes. Are you basically saying that PC gamers are hindered by DVD then? Of course they're not, just like we're not on consoles if we use DVD. The fact is that Blu-Ray is the future, I'm not denying that, but DVD works perfectly for games at the moment and will be fine for years to come. I'm not a fanboy taking any sides, I'm just stating the facts here. I do have a 360 AND a PS3 so I'm not being all fanboyish like so...
Actually it won't be due to DVD. I wish people were less ignorant on the DVD thing. DVD does not hinder games in any way, it only stops companies from putting in huge amounts of HD pre-rendered video ala MGS4 instead of using seamless in-game in-engine cutscenes. Please do your research before putting down DVD all the time. The hardcore gamers on the PC certainly don't complain that they aren't using Blu-Ray and don't need to.
I agree it is disappointing to see what they've done with the storyline with the whole zombie shooting thing...it looks so run-of-the-mill :(
I agree, I really hope it is a good game. Let's just hope they haven't screwed it up with what they've changed in the game.
Sorry but yet again you're wrong about gaming on Blu-Ray. LBP would work in terms of disks just fine on the 360, the disk makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. As for MGS4, it's only big and takes up loads of room due to the fact that like I said before the cut-scences are NOT in-game in-engine but actually just CGI movie clips which take up lots of room in HD. This is why it's only japanese games that take up more room because they don't always use in-engine clips.
Actually you're pretty much wrong about everything you've just said. Blu-Ray is obviously an increase and quite a substantial one, but the problem is that some movies aren't properly "blu-rayed up" so they don't look better than DVD but newer movies certainly do.
Also, Blu-Ray doesn't actually have ANY impact on games whatsoever apart from the need to do installs to get a game to run at a decent speed. Oh and they allow ridiculous amounts of CGI cut-scences that should ...
Yeah they are but they're only there just to show what it looks like, they're actually taken from the video. The video is available in a link at the bottom of the article.
I agree, but it doesn't do anything to Inside Xbox, you're not right about that particular thing. Oh and as we all know, Games on Demand is pointless due to the prices being too expensive and the bad DRM the 360 has in place.
Hackers always find a way, regardless of hardware or software, and they especially will try harder to crack a system if they believe they are being cheated. When the 360 first came out it was declared virtually hackproof, but it's now quite a lot easier I believe. The PS3 or any other console is no different.
This is very true actually, I would agree with this. However, Microsoft said that the major updates to the 360 would come as seperate applications later this year, which this update sets up ready for them. This comes in the form of Last.fm, Facebook, Twitter and the Zune Video programs. Hopefully this would also include Sky TV for the European audiences.
It hasn't ended, but it certainly slowed down on games consoles when the price of gaming came down. Actually reading the article might help...
So DriftMax, you're happy for games to go up by $10, and then more and more when Activision says so? They've already said they want to continually bring up the price but they're using this as a tester to see if people take it. People like you will the cause of more expensive games in the future unless you make a stand.
I think this is quite impressive considering it's just an Indie Game. Keep up the good work!
The new dashboard update on the 11th August, if you haven't already tried it, does speed up the dashboard. I would say it's a perfect speed now really, particularly the marketplace which now loads up instantly or with a second or two delay, rather than waiting for ages like the previous update.
It's just an idea, give the guy a break. We should embrace new ideas :)
You know what? I agree with you actually. I'm fed up with the industry not taking games seriously it's really annoying, and the problem often lies that some "games" on the Xbox/PS3 aren't even games, yet they have no other name attached to them. The problem really at the moment is that there is a split between two different interactive digital media as you call it. There are actual games that are mostly on the Wii and consoles like that, and there are these "games" that ar...
