I only disagreed with "the PS4 is basically like a 5 year old low end gaming pc in regards to hardware and capabilities" because that's not the case.
I'd have thought the rift would offer a much better VR experience provided you have the right rig. I mean why shouldn't it, if you pay more you should get more.
I don't know why people jump to size of monitor as the way to gauge resolution. If you sit 13 feet from a 50" display (optimal viewing distance) You're likely to notice a resolution drop just as much as if you were sat 7 feet from a 32" display.
People don't understand that viewing distance is the biggest factor in this, and if you can see individual pixels on your projection screen you're sitting way too close.
Then you need to sit further from the screen you're projecting onto. The optimal viewing distance for a 120" 1080p image is pretty far. You can sit 2 feet from a 32" screen and get the same effect you're having
Yeah, from a technical aspect that is a fairly huge difference but it doesn't translate to a gigantic visual difference, really. The difference I'm interested in seeing is the dynamic atmosphere simulation on the PS4 version
I've been a lurker on this site forever (if 2006 counts as forever) but this competition was WAY too good to pass up on; so I've finally created an account. I know I've got a rat's chance in hell, but you only game once

So it affected which version you were going to get, although it does still look better?
