What I don't get about ThisGenGaming - if you're going to break the embargo so openly, why not actually write a review that goes deep into the details? This review (Much like the embargo breaking Mafia 3 one you posted up) is so vague and lacking in detail that its almost pointless.
Your review is so tepid and lacking in details that I don't feel you've played it beyond two hours. Where's the info about he story? The twists? The weapon choices? The grap...

I remember being bemused by the PS1 version. All they changes they made to the lighting - felt like a different game. Things like throwing in DOOM 1 and 2 onto the same disc, and even putting Doom 2 enemies in the original Doom levels. It was mind blowing to a 5 year old.
They've been showing Wii U builds for months. Hell, they showed of the Wii U build two weeks ago at some convention. This is such a non-story it actually hurts.
If they'd put something up genuinely offensive or I felt they were doing it maliciously; I'd be on board. But they didn't, it was a daft moment of silliness.
It's not really sour grapes, more "Hey, is't it funny how Bethesda want streamers to showoff the game in bitesize chunks rather than have someone actually critically pull apart their game".
Good on them. At least we know what they're after.
If you want a gaming narrative created by PR company's and Youtubers who gladly (and openly) accept gifts and kickbacks (Take a look at the Vinyl players and early streaming copy's 2K sent out to Youtubers while withholding review copy's of Mafia 3) then you're right.
Personally I like my media unbias and to the point. We've not got a PR relationship with Bethesda and don't plan on one - so there's no "dishonesty" here. We just think ...
That's not really the question that should be asked.
The whole point of a review is you paint a vivid picture for the audience so they understand everything they need to make an informed decision. This review however could apply to any game, the generalisations are that broad.
"The Shooting gets repetitive" - how? Does it not get repetitive in GTA:V?
"The world's empty and boring" - How so? Tell me what you can't ...
It's awkward because ThisGenGaming has several articles already up saying that no one was getting review copy's of the game; yet here they are several hours before release with what looks like a farted out "review". It doesn't take much to follow the logic that ThisGenGaming has rushed this out the door to get the first clicks off gamers.
Rushed review that barely scratches the surface beyond generalisations.
Funny that on the day Phil Spencer says some reviews give low scores for clickbait, this one appears nicely as a prime example of poor critical analysis in the ever furious pursuit to get the most clicks.
Death by Degrees is a spin-off and worthy of mention because of how tragically bad it was. I put it on the list for laughs mostly, but it's worth remembering when glancing back over the series because of its a fun side note.
As for 2/3 being higher than modern ones, 6 wasn't that great. It had online but 5 was a much better game IMO.
And yeah, I'm a tool for mixing up Capcom and Back haha. I legit face palmed.

I still have our old family DOS computer - purely so I an play DOOM in all its DOS glory.

And people call my Top 10 list choices odd....
Uncharted 4 is right up there for best game of 2016. Quite easily. Such an odd choice.
Bit of a pointless article when Red Dead is the only AAA-western game in the ballpark.
They made one mistake.

Article blows it well out of proportion.

Your article says there's no respect - yet calls them Divas despite them dropping that mocker almost 9 months ago. I'd call that very awkward.
I think he's just annoyed that Oculus hasn't caught fire like many predicted.

Very true, sadly.

I've gone back to it every day since it came out to see if I can find the spark that will make me go "This is THAT good". It just hasn't happened.

8 pages? Come on now....
The recent Thief reboot missed the boat on what made the series really tick.
My bad haha. Not sure how a Y crept in there
