What a breathtakingly insightful group of responses. A game should be no longer or shorter than the story or gameplay needs it to be.
I'll pose another question then: Why was there such an uproar about The Order being relatively short if it was, at that time, impossible to know if that length served the story?
True or not, it had multiplayer that people loved. What happens if a game doesn't?
What role does price play? $20 for Journey seemed reasonable to most.
I find that statement to be irreconcilable with reality. To say that any Sonic game was structurally more sound than a Mario game of the same era is beyond me. The craftsmanship is on another level in my eyes.
I grew up playing the crap out of them. Thought Knuckles was the coolest. Have you tried going back to them?
If you compare them to their contemporaries... well.. the comparison isn't one they stand up to. Subjectively. They were, and will forever be the poor mans answer to Mario. Sonic makes LBP controls seem responsive and accurate.

I tend to agree though. Borderlands is more interesting for me for a few reasons. Most notably, the amount of time needed to sink in in order to get the full experience.
