Yes but sometimes once or twice per generation a few games apear that are above everything else at the time and i trully belive that this will apen with the witcher 3,because i know what this amazing studio can do,from what they have done in the past and what their morals as developers are...that is what makes them apart from the others,im guessing you never played a witcher game before or else you wouldn´t be so incredule about it.
It will defenitly help,as well as reading the books if that´s you thing,but Cd project will most likelly use a way to tell a summary of the story so far to newcomers so worry not...

Be pacient my friend,this guys are the latter of video games,what makes them apart from other developers is this, they take their time to make their games and instead of broken ,rushed pieces of s"#!t they deliver us magnifcent masterpieces,studios like CD project Red,Naughty Dog ,R*,Valve and Blizzard should not be rushed,and they tend to prove us why games should take years to develop and not months.

If more people talked to this companies with their wallets they would listen,how is it possible that in nearlly 2015 they dont use dedicated servers for one of the most famous competitive online shooters out there,it´s such basic tech nowdays and i´m pretty sure it should not be that expensive for them to buy and use.
