Ah, yes, Microsofts narrative, because they don't want to admit truth, that it cannibalizes day one sales. Because cloud, live services, streaming platform, they are all buzzwords shareholders love to hear. We will have to see how bad Game Pass numbers were, since they aren't public. But by how Obsidian is releasing games that are perfect for promoting Game Pass, not worth full price, on quick release cycles for consistent output, which is more important than quality, so Game Pass use...

As I always said about those, Avowed and Outer worlds 2 were games that were perfect for making Game Pass worth it. Shorter release cycles for consistent output, not good enough to be worth full price, both feel like they are about 40-50USD games, but sold for 60/70USD. Because they wanted to steer people towards Game pass. Bit like with ISPs offering 3 subscription plans and middle one often isn't worth it, because it is only there to upsell you to higher plan. Now whether that backfired...

That is why you should never rely on anything coming out before it is out or at least months before release. PoP SoT Remake had troubled development and first reveal wasn't received well. Combine that with Ubisoft not doing that well financially, regardless of what they say, and this cancellation makes a lot of sense. Since not only they needed to make it good, they also needed to fix reputation damage.

Beyond Good & Evil, as much as it pains me to say it, also is l...

Part 2
Also to mention it, Steam Deck was bigger success and way better because low specs were acceptable price to pay for portable gaming and it does that really well. And due to having small screen, 720p low doesn't really look bad on it, it will look however much worse on bigger screen. And even as is, Steam Deck only was temporary standard setter, since early in its life, developers rushed to support it, but not because they wanted to support it, but because that would promot...

As is, it won't compete with neither consoles, nor PC. It is essentially laptop in a box. Which isn't bad in itself. But it is low end machine. At specs, you are looking at mobile Ryzen 7600, so slower than desktop, but that would be fine for 60FPS gaming. RAM wise 16GB, which with help of Linx using less, could be passable as well. Where it really shows low end quality is RX7600M equivalent, that is laptop graphic card, it is slightly overclocked, but don't let name mislead you, ...

Wow, how mighty have fallen. Forced in co-op, no story, basically it is Painkiller in name and game to please shareholders by being multiplayer. Even for singleplayer you just do multiplayer with 2 bots. 9 levels, they feel same, nothing really is there to mix up gameplay enough to rival Director AI from Left 4 Dead, which gave that game long life. Also I didn't even know they were making this, players too, it has 82 concurrent players at max for last week, from 871 peak of all time, whic...

That is easy to answer, shareholders and investors. They are publicly traded company, once you become that your first and top objective is increasing shareholder value. Which is what this was. Since stocks depend on what shareholders believe and as long as you keep them confident, your stock will go up. And unlike gamers, shareholders actually do have power. If they believe company didn't do what is in their best interest, they can sue said company. Also they can cause shifts in managemen...

I am pretty sure they don't. It was profitable and made them a lot of money. Not GTA5 money but far from failure. Maybe it is lower priority franchise, due to being smaller, but that is about the lowest they would put it as. Only thing they do consider failure is RDR2 Online, unlike GTA5 Online, that RDR2 Online flopped. Hence why it got less support. And when it come to profits, sales for both combined don't come close to GTA Online microtansactions. Hence why everything very quickly...

I am shocked and amazed... :-D But for real, content gets cut all the time. Game development is like iceberg. On top we see what we get, blow surface we see some stuff that were worked on or tired, either due to leftovers in game, or just developers talking about it. Leftovers in trailers not excluded. And there is this big part in darkness, of all the things they were thinking of, getting to various development stages and were cut at some point or replaced with something else. Sometimes it i...

Difference between what fans make or modders make is that fans and modders don't need to be part of process that is planned, based on certain rules, it doesn't need to go through same amount of testing or be on same standards, if there are minor occasional flaws, they are fine for mod or fan made things. But in actual development team that is above indie developer, you need to do way more and those same people wouldn't do half as well. Since everything needs to be communicated, de...

Gaslighting is strong wit this one... :-D

But nope, Ubisoft just needs to admit they decided to be political activists and created mediocre game that was sending political messages same as Disney. Plus it was just classic "Ubisoft open world script" with Star Wars theme, you know one they use for all of their open world games. Because people wanted Star Wars game where you play someone other than Jedi or Sith for a while and playing scoundrel like Han Solo was def...

Concord? Wow are your standards low. Like if better than Concord is considered success, then your bar is exceptionally low. Also if I was here listing all games that flopped, we could be here for quite a few days. Concord has no relation to the topic at hand, which is Xbox, however Starfield is made by Bethesda who were bought by Microsoft and made into part of Xbox. Plus around 6000 player peak on Steam is not sign of huge success of game that was supposed to be played for decade, Skyrim has...

Xbox is huge mismanaged mess. They have no vision and they are just chasing buzzwords to please executives. Like back when they released Age of Empires 2 DE, it felt like they actually knew what they were doing and it actually felt like they might be up for doing something great. But they just had lucky break. Same as Xbox 360 was lucky break and they never managed to repeat what it did, after killing Xbox One basically on announcement before launch, with excessive DRM and stuff. Gaming wise,...

Almost looks good, but in usual Bethesda fashion, we just can't have perfection. This color filter, brownish or grayish, really doesn't look good and turns otherwise colorful game into very much monotone. I really hope you can set intensity of this filter because I am setting it to minimum or off. If not then I know what will be my no. 1 mod.

Of course provided this look is final. Since marketing screenshots often do look better tan actual game. Still, it is disappo...

Man, color filter removal mode is going to be on the top... I really don't like that color filter, they never work well and make games look so much monotone. And I did like Oblivions more colorful look. I think it went really well with setting. I really do hope filter is optional or just prerelease thing. But knowing developers and their infinite love for blur, chromatic aberration, blur, film grain,... I have my doubts. :-D Jokes aside, I know they get told what to do and some is needed ...

Makes me wonder if they are just fudging numbers to show one that is most beneficial to them. Like how many of those are actual sales? How many is them just counting in subscription services that didn't really bring in any extra revenue? I guess time will tell, because best indicators of how things went are how early or late first sales start and whether stocks can keep their value. We can't know former, but latter didn't yet respond to 2 million players, they even went down a bit...

It kind of makes sense, since Steam Deck is basically newcomer and more handheld PC. While Nintendo is very well established company in handheld, since up to Switch, they had DS and its variations. And I kind of always expected Steam Deck being held back by being a PC. Because your average Joe, will still way more likely buy Switch, because despite console like limitations, they buy it, all games work out of the box, performance might be poor, but they work, no tweaking required, no settings ...

Why would I wan t to hack anything else? I mean feel free to believe whatever you want, but I am fully aware that you can ruin game for yourself, if you hack it too far. Capcom clearly shows how things you can buy with microtransactions are not important and microtransactions kind of make them worthless. Since there is no difference between person who earned them and person who swiped credit card. I will always do that for microtransaction stuff, rest of the game I will play fairly. Didn'...

If you ask me, DD2 is overrated. Like original had its quirkiness that was more befitting of time it released in. Sequel tried same like it is still 2012. Unfortunately for them it isn't. Same as Bethesda when they try to release Starfield like it is still 2011. So it is more like ok-ish game with rough mechanics and stuff. That also happened to launch in terrible state and bad performance. It had opportunity to adapt, release less broken and strike big, if done right and if it kept just...

It is quite funny, they forgot to market it, few days before release media were questioning if it is even coming out. Seems like everyone forgot about it and then Sony remembered and it went something like "oh, crap" and they scraped something together to "finalize it" and quickly release... :-D

I mean game didn't even have requirements listed few days before release, like go to Way Back Machine and check it out, it was bare bones Steam page with rel...
