Really, on all online communities like this, there's always going to be griefers. Just as much as I experienced on PC, same on XBL, and probably the same will happen with PSN... anonymity brings out the worst in people sometimes (i.e. n4g 80% of the time).

If I'm really fed up with someone yapping on any service, there's the mute button/option (like in XBL... dunno about PSN). I'm not going to let that jacka$$ ruin my fun because he's mouthing off.

I see two important points:

1. Casual gaming is expanding at an immense rate.

2. When it comes to global publishers of AAA games the industry is consolidating down to a handful of players.

This means that the days for the hardcore gamer are becoming more in more numbered just in plain fact that the companies investing money into the product want to cater to the highest common denominator, which is casual gamers. I expect to see a hell of a lot less "...

man seriously, I don't know how anyone can go back to IE7 after Firefox. Just the extensions alone make me a believer

It gets really hard to objectively view 'screenshots' from the web since its easy to photoshop images. Adjust brightness/contrast, color saturation, you name it. Besides, not everyone is running the same AV setup as these guys anyways... what happens if you run your TV darker/brighter than they do?

There with you too... my next system I'll probably start off dual booting it because, like you, I have to stay on top of tech (especially if you get to run 64bit apps like 3dsMax). But seriously, the lack of driver support, heavy overhead, and bug issues really make me reluctant to go into Vista full time YET. Maybe after Vista SP2 as well hehehe

I didn't switch over to XP until at least the 1st service pack was released... I was a Win2k guy until then. I think the same thing will happen again with Vista (even though I love XP now after SP2 and now SP3). The only gripe in the resource hog that all Windows OS's are... how about something as lightweight at Linux?

Why do some people have so much faith in one gamer mag? Take a good cross section of reviews, read them through, see the results, compare.
