The Battlefield series kind of invented class based FPS gameplay. Without Battlefield, there would probably be no Brink.

The lack of hype is due to the fact that Brink is a new ip. It's not "OMGAWWWWDCAWADOOTY" so people aren't giving it attention.

Thankfully, Brink has an awesome campaign. It's basically the same thing as online except you're playing with bots.
All character progression and customization carries over into the online portion of the game. That's the only fact keeping me from going insane.
