Well, ive been following my way of playing the game starting up loading etc, and havent had an issue at all since then ive beaten the game, aquired all the trophies fine, no problems with progress saving, and ive quit and loaded the game id say like 8 times with no problems, dunno if im just lucky but im thinking that the "play" instead of continue route and setting to single player mode works.
if its the 1.1.0 patch like 2 days ago, just made things worse though. reset all in game stats and causing more curruption in save games.
UPDATE: since setting it to strictly multiplayer i havent had a single problem with my save files, all items, xp, mission progress is perfect, didnt follow those steps (though im not saying you shouldnt) i just left it set to Single Player, and instead of selecting Continue i selected play and chose my save file, loaded up perfectly, so tha...
hmmm ill try it out, i had a feeling that mp could be the issue or part of it, have a psn friend whos been only in single player mode and hes hasnt had a single issue with the game, like NONE and i was playing in single player too with no save issues till i selected coop psn and then i started losing like 2 missions or 3, id play finish say chapter 10, quit the game then later on go back to play only be in chapter 9 with 2 missions left, annoying as hell.

even for its age, its still crap just look at the backgrounds complete garbage, and look at other dc (even capcom games) like marvel vs capcom 2 backgrounds were 100x better looking.
highly doubt there will be custom maps, dont think the ps3 is gonna be able to download maps to the hdd.
