My favourite is Dark Souls, probably because I played it first. Also I think it's true that which ever game you play second will feel a bit easier because you're experienced with the style right from the start.
I do agree that your choices don't really make a difference but you only really come to see this by the time you're playing it for a second time so you have still had that immersive first playthrough where you have put yourself in Lee's position and make tough decisions under pressure, A lot like Heavy Rain. I played Dark Souls first and found it just the right amount of difficulty to keep me from giving up. Then playing Demon souls afterwards I find it harder to be honest, I really miss the bonfires for one thing and I'm finding it harder to level up so maybe it's different for everyone.
Oh and I felt the mimic chests were good it was quite symbolic of the running theme of Dark Souls which is to always be on your guard, all you had to do was hit the chests with your sword before ...
Yes. The game clearly needed improvements to story quality and game play mechanics. And it was extremely repetitive therefore I'm astonished that there were no improvements made, just more of the same.
Yeah I was so excited for Skyrim that Dark Souls release totally went under the radar for me and when I played Skyrim I was completely mezmerised by the whole thing.
But now after playing Dark Souls I have to admit I struggle to enjoy the mechanics of Skyrim now and the combat seems shoddy in comparison. Amazing how unappreciated Dark Souls is because of poor reviewers.
The one Boss I still can't defeat without a summon is Ornstein and Smough. The perfect balance of Smough's sheer power and Ornstein's agility make it a nightmare and I would say they're the hardest boss I've ever seen in a game.
I really liked the Gamecube but from a financial point of view I see your point.
My own opinion about the Wii and now Wii U is simply the motion controller and now tablet being a little frustrating and it put me off almost every game.
I like it simple with a nice wired controller with analouge's and triggers, I found it too stressful trying to aim at things and keep the camera focused when using the motion controls.

The driving in GTA IV was a total nightmare! every single car was horrendous at turning corners it felt like it weighed 50 tons trying to slowly crane the vehicle around every single bend.

It's completely genuine I just wanted to get it out there. I'm sick of any time I go onto a Skyrim related topic there's some PS3 owner crying about the lack of DLC. I would be very annoyed too but there's more people bitching about Dawnguard than the holocaust.

Saying it's unsuited to stealth is ridiculous when I have gone through every single episode now without detection and I'm an average gamer.
I've always danced around the idea of buying Dark Souls as I hear brilliant things about it, but also other people tell me that the 1000 + deaths are not worth the reward. However it's only around £15 nowadays so if you think it's worth it I'll make a purchase and begin the torture ;)
Haha Well Resi 4 and FF7 are definitely up there for me too! Infact they would have been on the list if it was a top 10 but I was worried each number would have to be talked about less and I still don't think I've done them justice. Wish I could've made a top 20 ha!
Ooof there was a lot of debate now you mention about Mass Effect 1, I weighed up KOTOR and ME1 as a kind of Bioware spot, and choose KOTOR based on the fact I nearly screamed like a girl when I found out I was Revan haha!
What other game in the universe do you not end up doing the same thing repeatedly after say..80 hours? Now maybe the game can't capture your imagination but for some people to be able to play a single player game for over 200 hours and still be enjoying themselves is nothing short of remarkable.
