Indie is becoming a confusing, muddled category, though.
At one point it was associated with start-up game studios out of a garage. Now, you have big name publishers, like Ubisoft, publishing games like Child of Light and Valiant Hearts.
Sure, they look like indies, but is the name justified because it came out of a big publisher?
I wonder if Universities are going to give out eSport scholarships for this too?
Sarcasm aside, I'm kind of curious how far eSports is going to go. What kinds of genres will be encompassed into its ever-growing definition?
I'm so glad PS Vita has some great games coming it's way... not so happy that PlayStation isn't going to support it with first-party games though.
I mean, Nintendo is supporting its console with amazing first party content! </whining>
The list almost seems too short, there are so many anticipated games coming out this holiday. :)
Assassin's Creed Unity
Far Cray 4
Tons of indies
Great article!
The Aeris death scene was probably the first time a game made me cry. Everything before FF7 had been Mario and duck hunter. It hadn't even crossed my mind that a character would die in a video game.
Sh*t got real from that point on.
