But yeah, the PS3 is technically only 1 year and a half old in Europe. Yet, even with the higher price tag, it caught up to the 360 install base. And now since the price has dropped + the Slim, someone should start writing a "360 is doomed!" article.

I like the one who keeps saying "I thought PS3 owners don't care about sales."
But it's not about the sales, it's about knowing that if Sony starts making profit, they're not going to hesitate to fund new exclusive games and updates and things like that.

They are just excited. And they should be more than the average fanboy. Why? Because they're going to actually REAP the benefits of the PS3's being sold. Bigger install base = higher software sales. And hopefully, all the new PS3 owners will pick up the best previous games from these guys. Resistance 2, LBP, Ratchet & Clank, etc. etc.
Yeah but everybody knows the 360 had a year head start in the US/Japan and a year and a half head start in Europe.

Another thing to note, is that potential 360 shoppers or Wii shoppers who also might consider a PS3, the 360 elite is still $399 and pro $299, and the Wii is $249. So that puts the PS3 at the same price of a 360 Pro but with blu-ray, free online, yadda yadda yadda. And it's only $50 more than a Wii but obviously obliterates it in features.
So the consumers on the fence who see that $299 price tag, is going to jump on it.

Now people are using "Oh well it doesn't do Linux, so I'm not buying a PS3" excuse.
Add it with the other excuses in the past:
"PS3 has no games, so I'm not going to buy one."
"PS3 is too expensive, so I'm not going to buy one."
"PS3 Slim still has no BC, so I'm not going to buy one."

It's either I'm playing games, or watching TV to save money.
Usually one night with some friends can easily reach up to $120+ for gas, food, alcohol, entrance fees etc.
But staying at home instead of going out all the time can actually save money on the long run. Without games or TV, i'd probably go insane without anything to do. Sure I can read a book or do something else, but what the heck, I'm a gamer!

Yup, and the reason why Turn 10 decided that there shouldn't be weather or night racing was because they wanted bright sunlight to show the details of the damage.
That's why it's limited to racing cars and especially in rally. Crazy damage is pretty much two peas in a pot with rally cars.
