I've just spent the past week playing Vanquish on a friend's Xbox360, and that game definitely deserves to be listed as one of the best - if not the best - shooters of 2010.
The gameplay mechanics are very satisfying, the art styling is fabulous, and the sheer amount of onscreen action is awesome! For those who want to know how to design a good shooter, take a look at this game.
Nintendo's Wii may be showing its age after having held its lead for so long, but that only positions Nintendo to release a next generation of console that could again leapfrog the competition technologically, even as Microsoft and Sony continue to play catchup in motion control.
In the future, just do what the web browsers do, where it automatically sends a report to the company when the browser crashes. Build that functionality into the game.
No console can be successful without 3rd party developers getting onboard to make games for it. Nintendo has made some good games for Wii, but they can't carry the whole burden of game-making alone. Other 3rd party developers should have joined in to come up with cool ways to exploit Wii's motion controls.
For instance, Nintendo's Wii Boxing was really fun to play, and everybody who bought a Wii spent a good amount of time throwing punches with this fun game. So how come not even...
Who are these losers who keep opposing improvements in gaming? They're couch potatoes who can't move their lazy fat asses out of their chairs to move around. Motion is realism. It's like the difference between the mouse and the keyboard. We simply need better motion control, not less motion control. Wiimote and Motionplus technology should be improved upon and made more accurate.
