God eater are the swords you get in this game, once you defeat a god / or in the fight, you can "charge" your weapon and your sword/weapon evolves into a monsterous mouth that can eat the vulnerable god, wich gives you special abilities and is the only way to loot! FKING BRILLIANT!
best game ever, Im serious, this is unbelievable entertaining, well Sequel is even better!

you also need to realise that exactely those games you are mentioning do NOT need to sell like crazy because they have very small developement teams
(this is basically like with every other playstation exclusive, except games that get delayed a lot like GT5 :D)
