no, L2/R2 triggers should of just been concave. thats the only problem with the DS 3 controller, the R2/L2 buttons arent concave and they break easily.

this game is using Rockstar's Proprietary RAGE Engine right? cause if so, it looks like They did one hell of a good job optimizing it on the PS3. GTA had a 4gb install. so this shows a big change I hope...

you dont have to replace the contoller. just open it and buy a new battery. its actually really easy to replace the battery. its plugged in, not soldered to the main board. just pull plug and replug with the new battery.
