theres a technical reason for it.
the PS eye detects the move via the glowing led orb, just as how the infrared sensor on the wii detects the wiimote by infrared light.
there will be some gimmicky parts to that orb as well, like when you are about to get killed by the enemy, the orb's light can turn from blue to red in an instant. or when you summon in an rpg, the orb changes its color as well.

i think we all know were this is headed...For disaster...
thats why its multiplatform. Sony predicted this was going to happen this gen. Games were going to cost so much to make, that exclusivity will be non-existant. thus why they put their money on first party gaming.

all thats left now is a Resistance 3 announcement, LOL. Not expecting an Uncharted 3 announcent until the end of this year or next year though.
