It's alright, the Dragon Ball series has always been plagued with plot holes and inconsistencies. The completely unbalanced/inconsistent power level jumps (which made them irrelevant and less memorable, compared to Goku going SS for the first time), plot armor and so on.
Watching the DB series as a kid was amazing, watching the DB series as an adult, is just sad. I could barely tolerate finishing super.

What helped gt3 was the graphical jump from Psx to PS2. It was mind blowing. Gt7 doesn't have that luxury. Gt7 had to focus on gameplay.
They're not taking advantage of the hardware, whether it's graphically or how much they can add or do. If you look at the PS3, it was all about massive online multiplayer and beautiful graphics.
