FFXV being an ARPG is enough, FF7 has to be ATB. If not I and a majority of fans (I imagine) will be upset.
Party control is key and as we've seen with FFXV and it's AXB system that party control was cut because it was a huge undertaking. Imagine the same fate happening to FF7:R if they wanted it to be an action RPG, being 'Cloud centric'. Fairly certain that won't be the case and it'll remain ATB...

That would be a huge undertaking, remember how they've tried with XV with controllable party members, but it ended up being a Noctis centric game.
Now imagine that with FF7, no chance.
We're probably gonna get an ATB with upgraded mechanics, something more visually pleasing than the square dancing nature of the original.

Sounds like a proper sequel to Peace Walker to me, I'm fine with it.
Read that it might be a new character from New Zealand, it also looks like he has dreads (from the hairline) and a rugby helmet (look at the object next to his head, could just be a loc or a rugby helmet strap).
Another thing, the way the character purses his lips and tilts his head side from the gif looks a little like he's performing Haka like the NZ All Blacks. That would be awesome af if it turns out to be the case.
Definitely a new character
