I bought a 20 gig launch ps3 for $499 and put in a 160 gig hdd the same day. I installed linux a week later and think it's honestly the best electronic item I have ever owned. I have been using it for 3 years as my media center and i don't think I could live without it. I've play and beaten about 60 games in that time. ps3 is the shiznit!!

Dana white's vision is why the UFC is where it is today. Without him the UFC as we know it today would not exist. Why is there even a debate on whether blu-ray will succeed or not. DVD even dual layer maxes at 8.5 gigs. Dual layer blu ray is 50 gigs and quad is 100. High def movies are here to stay and cannot fit on dvd's (1080p with lossless sound).
Even if something better came out right now the price would be too high both for the medium and the technology to run it. Blu ray is it for the forseeable future.

The way i see it, there wont be a new xbox anytime soon for multiple reasons but the main reason is blu-ray. With it being common knowledge that dvd is not even enough for this generation, Microsoft would have no choice but to implement blu ray into the new xbox. But they wont do that because they are so stubborn. Hence the quagmire.
