Ps4 will outperform most of the pc's. The ones with higher specs too. Only elite rigs will perform better. All has to do with "coding to the metal".
Remember ps3 specs? 256MB XDR & 256MB ddr3, and look at the last games. A pc with lets say 2GB RAM & 8800gtx & core2duo for example wouldn't be able to run anything like; the last of us/beyond/bf4. I know cause that was my pc, and it crippled very fast.

I agree with everybody who says 720p is kinda poor. Next gen should be able to handle 1080p. But both systems will do, i'm sure.
Then again, this is onlye the start of the next-gen and what i've seen so far the focus is much more on in-game effects such as lightning/animation etc.... that 1080p will come.

Totally agree with your comments. Used to be a PC gamen too, but i stopped when my GTX8800 broke and turned really nice artifacts on my monitor. At the time that happend my PC was only 2 years old and not able to play the latest games at max settings.
So i was done upgrading. And even if your system works fine for 8 years, at some point (if you want the latest graphics) someone is forced to upgrade due to the fact that their hardware doesn't support certain features such ...
