Depends on how long they wait to make a new console, they've only been out 2 years so far, if they go a 5 year plan (I doubt it) then Nintendo could be in same situation, but Nintendo continues to do 5 year plans with their consoles.

I agree! It had to have sold well enough by now, especially when considering that they barely promoted it and it was a low budget title.
There aren't even many publishers from the NES era left, so I dont see where you're going with that, because they've made good with the few really big ones left around, like capcom and Konami. But even then since capcom and Konami seem to wanna focus on mobile phone games it doesn't matter anyway, Nintendo have been making good with a very good amount of indie developers which are the new gen of developers.
