this is a ridiculous question. If they deem that they have enough people using their service, there is no reason whatsoever for it to be free. It is a business, not a charity, people pay for it so they will continue to make it payment based as they should

@iams12, when halo wasnt so damn old i saw numerous occasions with over a million people playing worldwide
having both systems for over a year now i can honestly say that the psn really sucks in comparison to xbox live. It lags waaay more, the downloads are at least 10 times slower, (both systems use wifi at my house) and it honestly feels like a cheaper experience than live. Low budget I guess is the phrase for it. Don't get me wrong, I loved playing mgs4 and lbp on my ps3, but the online part for every game that i have on my ps3, madden, bball 2k9, mgo, resistance 2, lbp is all quite laggy. tony...

if it isnt slower explain to me why my xbox can dl 2gbs in less than 10 minutes on a cable connection while psn literally takes like an hour? thats what i mean by slower
psn has a long way to go before its quality of service matches xbox live. I went without live for the last 5 months and just recently renewed it and it made me truly appreciate its quality over my psn service on my ps3. Psn is slower, less reliable and all around just worse. Also i think the ps3 menu system is rather slow and boring tbh.
idunno color me crazy but i just didnt enjoy the game. the 60 player multiplayer added nothing to the experience imo. The co op needed difficulty gradients so that if someone who wasnt a huge shooter fan wanted to play, they would be able to play without the burden of the frikin sun to be put on the other persons back. The gameplay just wasnt all that intriguing. i dont really find that some cool weapons or defense mechanisms make up for a game that screams meh.
gotta say i wasnt a huge fan of this game ... in fact i played it 2or 3 times and since then it has been collecting dust. It just felt so generic... :(
