I got Bioshock 2 on PS Plus and I tried the multiplayer. I mean it was okay but nothing really special and I feel that the game could have done without it and all those resources could have been spent on going full force with the single player.

I'm pretty sure the game will be bundled and make it's money back plus profit. I mean, does it really look big budget? This was merely a test to see if people if care for this type of game.
No because they aren't created from the ground up. What I mean by that is that the inspiration for a sports games comes from the sport that a developer is trying to replicate, whereas a game like Uncharted 2 or Bioshock creates a totally different world that you have never seen in real life. I'm not sure if I am explaining it correctly but in short, it takes more imagination to create something that isn't a sports game.

Yeah there is a single player mode but I don't think you understand that the game was development for a co-op experience and if you want to experience the full game you will HAVE to play the co-op mode.
