As it’s been primarily developed to highlight the power of the XB1X, I’d say the other cores were to task other background tasks and programs on the console without hindering the gameplay output.

Remember kids, if your pc is good to play 4k, there's no need to buy the console, as ALL XB1X releases are compatible for both console and pc.
It's not a competition. It's just healthy to have an alternate console.
It's called early access, closed or open alpha or beta these days. Companies like to save costs on internal testing, and get honest public direct feedback.

Much of it probably has to do with timing. The game was released after Overwatch, which seems to have largely cornered the market on Hero Shooters. They’re very different games, but to the average player that doesn’t matter. The game is also going up against Quake Champions, which is a similar arena shooter with a focus on heroes.
