"The videos and shots were taken from test kits with the 2.4 release of the dev firmware. Thanks Medran, you're a legend! Discuss here."

BioShock is up and running. So this is how that EA employee knew about in-game XMB. He has the 2.4 firmware dev kit.

Wtf?

Who waits for a system to get an exclusive game with a 9.0+ average? 360 has 4 exclusives (well, technically 2 since the other 2 are on PC) that have a 9.0 + average and thats after 3 years. And PC has 2 of those games so it's really not exclusive.

And if the only games you own are Gears, Halo, ME, and Forza 2 then your missing out on a lot of games.

But that didn't solve my problem when I couldn't reply to message I received while playing Uncharted or [enter any PS3/PSN exclusive here].

Access your friends list in any game. Not just one game or a couple.

Will force developers to implement this. I don't think custom soundtracks and in-game messaging will cost them any memory like it use to. Just like how receiving a message use to cost developers memory. Sony later made that cost nothing to developers and they have been using it ever since.

Sony will have in-game messaging across all games. Custom Soundtracks and trophies will have to be patched up in order to work. Custom Soundtracks no longer cost the developers any memory on there part and neither will in-game messaging. From now on every game on PS3 is forced to use custom soundtracks.

That picture is fake.

But I still want this on my PS3. Xbox 360 can't play MGS4, Blu-Ray movies, Uncharted, Ratchet, Motorstorm, Resistance etc etc.

Too bad my area isn't up there. But it's only an hour drive to the nearest one.

And please don't reply with "but Microsoft has that patented". You can't put a patent on an idea, only the way that it's done.

I hope Sony shares more details on this firmware on the Playstation Blog with a video showing us in-game XMB and any other features. It would be a great relief for the many people that are looking forward to it.

Props to Sev1512 for telling us many weeks ago. I'll be visiting your site on the regular now.

It's going to feel so damn good pressing the PS button and seeing the XMB pop up.

It's just a rumor. Misleading title.

But the gameplay was broken. MK3's gameplay was broken too. Sub-Zero had an unblockable ice clone infinite and projectiles didn't have a delay when used which could allow players to cheese with them. Jax is a nice example. But it's because MK3 was rushed and why Reptile and Scorpion weren't in it. UMK3 isn't perfect but it's the most balanced Mortal Kombat game to date. Every MK game released after UMK3 is broken and has unbalanced gameplay.
