The e3 demo was kind of "meh" and that had nothing to do with its exclusivity.
It seems like your problem with the game is its overall maturity level and difference from the previous games. They were trying to step away from the over the top set pieces though they still had a decent amount.

Also I don't think 3d world is game of the generation material, I'm about 3/4 of the way through it and it's very good but no super Mario Galaxy.

Well insomniac has always been sony exclusive except for I believe 2 games the likes of being fuse and sunset overdrive the likes of which both sold poorly.
Yet on the ps4 they've had the ratchet and clank games and resistance all of which had sold great, in fact the latest ratchet and clank has broken all of insomniacs previous records sales wise.
Playstation is where their fans are and where there are fans there is profit.
