maybe the BETA was more successful than they thought it would be. Look at the levels people are creating, why would you stop now? They're probably doing and finding things MM would never have thought of.
Plus they might be implementing some of the glitches into the game i.e. the layer glitch which led to the FPS mode.

I'm 100% sure they will do zombies and it will definately have co-op. No co-op would be a bad mistake. The extra $20 might be old zombie maps but i'm not sure. You might get some game art or something.
