Face it, man. Maybe the PS3 isn't as perfect as you make it out to be. Carmack is a genius at game development, and that's an understatement. So if he favors the technical aspects of the 360 over the PS3, maybe there's some merit to it.
Agreed. But this is N4G, nothing is going to change. People will always want to stroke their e-peen, and defending their choice of console is one way of doing that.
You forgot the part where the 360 install was optional. Not mandatory. 4GB owners can still play it without installing.

An intrusion into their services would've meant a possible privacy data compromise as well. I'm not blaming Sony entirely on this issue, but they should have stated the possibility of sensitive information being stolen on day one so people could've taken the appropriate measures.

I never said Carmack "trumps all". I never said he was the best and brightest developer out there now, and everyone else completely fails in comparison.
But he has been a leading innovator in the industry for around 20 years now... and his opinion shouldn't be taken lightly.
