FF9 was the last Sakaguchi's game though. He wrote part of the FF9 scenario.

Well, I didn't change my gambits for the most of FF12 (the game didn't "punish" me for this) so I was happy when FF13 "allowed" me to use some battle tactics in every battle. ;)
People like the author want Final Fantasy to stay the same. Well, that's impossible. Otherwise, instead of FF7 you'd get 7th rehash of FF1.
This game needs to stay exclusive. I want quality game, Wada-san.

I've never had any RPG corrupting my saves and I'm playing RPGs (mostly jPRGs though) for about 12 years. Bioware sucks.
Well, if you hate turn-based combat so much, FF and most of the JRPG genre are probably not going to appeal to you. I love turn-based combat. Then again I grew up with Civilization, FF tactics, Front Mission series and not Dungeon and Dragons and shooters.
I didn't even consider buying it after I saw gameplay.
Good thing I don't pay attention to reviews anymore.
FF13 is a better RPG than action/shooter ME2. Bioware has fallen so much since Baldur's Gate 2, back then they were still producing proper RPGs.

I wonder if "attempt to create a more reality-driven experience" means higher chance for western localisation. You know, japanese usually go for realism when they try to appeal to the West.

Each FF has its share of haters that say "WORST GAME EVER". FF13 hate doesn't surpise me at all since I've been playing FF series for 10 years already. Most JRPGs won't ever get as musch attention as FF. Last Rebellion or Unlimited Saga Saga are really sub-par JRPGs but no one would constantly troll them by saying "WORST GAME EVARRR". More attention and popularity = more trolls
