If I'm not mistaking I think FF versus xiii has a later release date than ffxiii. I think it was always supposed to come about half a year later if I understood Nomura-san. But I can't sem to find the article where he talked about it.
anyways my predictions are:
ffxiii: fiscal08 in Japan/summer or fall in PAL, and US somewhere in between
ff versus xiii: more or less 1/2 to 3/4 years later than ffxiii.

I thought this game exsisted already, and it's called Hellgate O.o. It looks more or less like that, but with a few new bells-and-whistles. If I'm not mistaking Hellgate touted it's so-called RPG too, and look at that :P.

FFXIII = the "main FF" a.k.a ffvii/x and so on. The story (as far as we know) is about Lightning as a rebel leader going against the upperclass in the country. What's cool about the setting from what I've read is that there's even more a mix of medival and high tech than usually whereas the cocoon (high status society is what we've seen from the trailer) and then there's a low status society which is supposed to be something that equals medival peons both tech and lifestyle. So imo...
It could work IF it had Secret of mana-esque gameplay. But that would mean to cut the ATB and a few other things that define FFs, like the fact that each fight is an encounter, and not just enemies freeroaming. FFxii was kinda like that, but you still focused on one fight at a time.

Other than that, from what I've heard is that it's for cutscene / action shots kinda like the 24 show, or the "at the same time" shots in FFIX. But there were a roumor a while ago that Sqeenix was talking about using some form of online in FFXIII, though seriously doubt that ...
If recent reports are true then sony aren't exactly losing on each console. THE report said it had cut it's price in half, which would roughly equal going from 800$ production price to 400$, which would say that's it's more or less even on it's "low-end console". If you now add the different prices over the world, which are grossly above 400$ (about 800$ here), and I'd say Sony are more or less balaced as of now. That is, ofc, if the reports that's out are true

Fully agree the Snes is the best console yet, with either ps1 or ps2 on second. Neither playstation has IMO gotten close to catering the kinds of games I like/love like the Snes.
There's always a chance that I'm living on a bit of nostalgia, but oh well. I can still pick up and play most of the Snes games I liked back in the days and I still find 'em great, if not better than then ^^

The reason as far as I can understand is that it's not fair to add another stone to the burden, even though it has worse quality. Thinking that it's okay is a sign that it's "okay" to mark down Multiplat games on the Ps3 just because it's on the Ps3, and not grade it on the games own attributes. If the numbers we've been given are correct then you are infact wrong. The ps3 (I assume we're talking xbox vs ps3 here) have been outselling the xbox360 in the recent few weeks. Though this is not by a lot, it's needed to be said. But, and there's always a but, it remains that the ps3 HAS outsold the xbox, or in the worst case scenario is pretty close, which looking at how the year has been at Sony HQ isn't all that bad.

mboojigga, I totally agree that kids like that have a couple of issues, and I'm not talking about micro-managing numbers, even though I've seen a couple do that as well. My point is that you have to look at trends and the best way we can do that is to look at sales numbers. Sadly these are not accurate nor are the numbers listed nessecarily correct, but it's atleast an indication.
