I bought a PS4 that arrived non-functional, and I'll be sending it back tomorrow for a refund. Winning this would be a wonderful way to counter my current disappointment.

Yes, but DID YOU FIND THE GOLF SIMULATOR?!

Actually, if I understand correctly, the live-action cutscenes were all shot in 2K resolution, which is something of a standard in digital film. So instead of downscaling to 1080p, they said, "why not just make playing in 2K an option?" It's there if you can take advantage of it, but you won't miss anything serious if you don't.

Seriously?! A rail-shooter? Is this 1993?

Rambo deserves better.

If they're willing to admit that QTE's frustrate gamers - why not allow gamers to turn them OFF? Then we wouldn't have to worry about them at all! And then maybe developers would have to make actual engaging GAMEPLAY to make up for it.

My friends and I still play Payday together at least once a month. Which is more than I can say for CoD.

I thought you were going to talk about specific things in games that terrified us - in which case, that eel that comes out of its hole in the underwater level in Super Mario 64 provided plenty of nightmare fuel.

Except real people aren't one or the other. I've come across people who swear constantly, in varying amounts of moderation, or not at all.

I was being snarky earlier - allow me to qualify my statement. When I swear, it's necessary. Swearing simply for the sake of swearing or trying to appear "edgy", that's unnecessary.

Ooh, did I hurt the little fanboy's feelings?

This is one of the best articles I've read today - I just wish you'd explored some more titles, past AND present.

Well, the first choice - not to include Bioware games - was a mistake. Admittedly, choice has a lot to do with what romance you wind up pursuing, but that doesn't mean it's invalid - quite the opposite, really, I felt much more personally invested because I was the one guiding that romance. In Mass Effect, I've only experienced FemShep/Kaidan, but I felt that was one of the most powerful romances I'd seen in a game. I hear from some others that Shepard/Liara or MaleShep/Tali a...

Not a terrible list, but not quite right, either.

I liked this, it was well-written, but I have to say, I disagree with every single one of your choices.

I was all set and ready to give you the benefit of the doubt, but this is really just trolling.

Crap! It's Civ 5 all over again, when they told me I couldn't beat the game until I finished reading Nile Bowie's treatise on Geopolitical Destabilization!

Naturally, I'm hard up. Where do you think the inspiration for the article even came from? Did you even read it? I'd thought it was patently obvious I'm not getting any.

You could say it was "2 Complex" for me! BOOSH!

Meh. The bottom line? A good game is a good game. Narrative is important, but so is gameplay, and one CAN make up for the other's deficits.
