Look forget what has been said so far, Sony should have informed there customer the moment they noticed the hack, On XBL if MS are doing any maintence, we are informed about it, either on the dashboard messager or email accounts, Sony never informed anyone until a week later. lol, I agree Sony is missing out on a 2.3billion income a year because that is what MS makes on it's XBL. So having a dedicated team on call 24/7 is important. Sony have to cut cost because they are not receiving this kind of income. You can't just rely on the system to autodetect hacking you need to have a team on monitoring your servers too. Sony has 4 hour gap everyday, that is 4hrs for 365 days to update there network, why wait for time when most of the europe are on holiday to do maintence work, i don't by it sorry, but as you don't pay for there network service, they can do what they want and don't have to answer to anyone.

MMMmmmmmmmmmmm, you are wrong, sorry, but over the last 5yrs i don't ever recall LIVE been down for more than a day, manybe in on the first XBOX generation, but not this generation and not for a whole week. Any maintence to LIVE always comes with a message a week before informing of the pending disruption. But MS always extends Live membership if LIVE is to crash.
Dualconsoleowner you are wrong, The Annual fee that 360 owners pay is to cover the server services. I can tell you that I have never lost connection to LIVE, when MS carry out any maintense you are informed about. 360 owners pay for a service of the Server that MS has allocated to LIVE. The publisher Server, like EA, but MS have Servers dedicated to EA games. So when EA decide to cancel there server it will only effect those inside of EA hopefully.
