I think this move is just to get the heat off them until launch, but I have this strange feeling that they plan on reinstating the online DRM once the console is actually out there.

most likely because 1 good showing at e3 doesn't make up for the crap fest of the 2-3 years before, or the trust they had in MS is gone when they are the ones that bought up DRM and blocking used games and backing out. they could be using this to get people to buy it then put the policies back in place.
man..i must be getting slow. it took me awhile to figure out why it was a big deal..this is the casual audience they're trying to win over.

why are you bringing up next gen games? this is about him wanting to make a new IP after gears which was back in 2006.
My second comment was that Sony allows for new IPs on THEIR CURRENT CONSOLE even at the end of its life.
The PS4 will have new IPs, during E3 Sony didn't show all their first party companies.
Okay but we don't know if they wanted to make a sequel or not. This is about Cliffy B. trying to make a new IP but gets rejected.
Naughty Dog released The last of us which is a new IP. Quantic Dreams is bringing out Beyond two souls. Both games near the end of the PS3s life.
he should of joined Sony, they have no problems making new IPs.
I do have a stick but its to big for me to carry around, so when I'm at my friends place I end up using a controller instead. also I'm more use to a controller than a stick.
I'm just happy they didn't switch the D-pad and the left stick around. I like playing fighting games and it would be terrible if they swapped it around since I use the D-pad to play it.
I loved the game, I was able to beat it saturday night. Its been along time since I went on a gaming spree like that.
However its expected, it would take at least 5 times the amount of people to watch the movie because the tickets are cheaper than the game itself. I'm glad that its doing well but I thought it was to be expected.

I was ready to pay for online next generation. I felt that the PS3 generation for Sony was a building block for their PS4 online. I'm glad Sony allowed us to enjoy a generation of online gaming without making us pay for it. I had a feeling they would now more to a pay to play model because lets face it..servers aren't cheap. Its nice to see them allow people who don't play still have access to their apps without paying for it.

I think gamers are more fed up with being pushed aside, while Square continues to pump out mobile and web games..
lots of IF....I'm going by what we already know. The last 2-3 years MS E3 conferences have been craptastic..
A game can claim to dethrone another but thats all it is..a claim. Also just because a game has be in development for YEARS, doesnt mean it'll be good. For example..Too Human and Duke Nukem.
Sony on the other hand has many very talented first party studios that we know are just waiting to announce games at E3.
MS hasn't had a good E3 in years...what makes them think they can compete against Sonys first party?

they have a lot of trust to rebuild just like Sony did when they were hacked. Except it will be harder on MS because this was a decision they made themselves and backed off on. who knows maybe this is just a way to take the heat off them until launch and then they reinstate the DRM
