Let's be honest here, God of War has never really pushed the envelope of any system regardless of what the developers say. God of War 2, for instance, was quite impressive but could easily have been done on the Xbox at the time. With God of War 3, I would be hard-pressed to believe there is anything in the game that is so revolutionary that it cannot be done with a triple-core PowerPC processor and a pretty damned great 3D video processor.

I like my PS3 and I even like the new P...

1) Microsoft settles out of court with the company, allowing it to continue using the said infringing patents. (unoriginal but historically likely)

2) Microsoft pulls infringing copies of Office 2007 from shelves and replaces them with Office 2007 minus the technology they stole. Users of existing copies receive a mandatory update through Windows Update that removes features (and potentially kills compatibility).

Either way, OpenOffice is a decent product but I would...

I wholeheartedly agree. JRPG's haven't changed tremendously since the days of yore whereas the Western RPG is a full package nowadays. When you look at games like Fallout, Oblivion, Dragon Age and Mass Effect, you realize that Westerners know how to blend leveling up and action perfectly. In the case of the Japanese, leveling up is just as much of a chore today as it was back then. Keep working on those crazy-looking haircuts and effeminate characters Japs, that'll sell a lot better than grea...

I'm not surprised that the sales are lackluster. The fact of the matter is that many great games came out at the same time and a lot of us can't play all of them at once. Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Dragon Age, etc.. Give it time, it will sell very well.

Speaking as a format 360 fanboy, I say : just give it time, they'll fail soon.

I can't believe they ONLY sold 1.2 million. That was one kickass game.

After buying an Xbox 360 in 2005, buying 120 physical games and 60 XBLA titles, buying every accessory imaginable and also going through a few consoles (this is my fifth), I decided to buy a PS3 on my birthday last year and then moved my gaming time to the PS3 exclusively.

What I get is access to Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted and a few other quality titles. What I also get is free online (though pretty lame compared to Xbox Live) and peace of mind due to its general reliability....

Stop looking for percentages. The truth is, EVERY 360 will die. It's not a matter of if but a matter of when. I'm an ex-360 fanboy who has lost hope for the system and begrudgingly bought a PS3. I can only hope my PS3 doesn't show itself to be an unreliable.

Matix, someone who was selected as a beta tester IS on this site and I'm one of them. I actually went to high school with someone who currently works for Microsoft and after being very helpful with their Vista testing, they invited me along for the 7 testing.

Hurray! I was actually wondering when I'd get the free copy. I'm not the most dedicated beta tester (married, soccer coach, teacher, etc.) but I definitely help out. While Ubuntu is good, it's not perfect. Linux Mint is better and even IT isn't perfect. The truth is, if you're looking for the best PC OS at the moment, Windows 7 is it. Even in BETA form it was faster than Vista and prettier so we can just imagine what the final will be like. In fact, historically, RTM's were always much slower...

To me, this report is very accurate. If I drop a DVD, there is an incredibly small chance that a crack will appear on the disc to render it unplayable. In fact, I have dropped a ton of DVD's over the years and nothing that would stop me from playing that disc again ever happened. However, when I dropped Little Big Planet right after finishing the game, a crack appeared in the middle of the disc and made it unplayable. My friend dropped his NHL 09 disc, also for the PS3 and it became unplayabl...

It was inevitable. The only problem that I have with the 360 is that even with a 120 gig HD, the room is fairly limited for people who want to have say a dozen or so games on their system at all times. However, online distribution was going to happen whether they liked it or not. When you start streaming movies or even selling them in digital format, you have to imagine that gaming is the next step.

It's just a matter of time before Sony moves into this area head-on with the P...

Sony's first-party development is one of the many reasons I moved onto the PS3 from the Xbox 360 actually (the others being reliability, a complete disillusion with Microsoft's gaming plan and my strong dislike for the online populace of Xbox Live). Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance and just four series that truly interest me. Add to that Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, MLB and the inevitable new series that the studios will spawn and you truly have nothing to worry about gam...

Actually, there's only one effective step to preventing the RROD : never plug the XBOX 360 in. I have spent 4 years of my life defending Microsoft and its crappy little console because it does, ESSENTIALLY, give you the greatest gaming experience. However, let's face it : it's a suicidal piece of crap. The sooner we acknowledge it, the sooner we get over it. To any PS3 fanboy though : don't take this as me saying that the PS3 is any better. Sony's pretty system has a problem of its own in the...

The fact of the matter is that for a relatively low price point, you get a LOT from a PC laptop. A big screen, a gigantic hard drive, a maximal amount of RAM, a media reader and even a free printer of some sort are common. Apple will never give you as much as little. However, I would love for Microsoft to make a commercial showing what happens in case of computer hardware failure. On the PC, if your video card screws up, you go to the store and get a new one and then install it relatively eas...

Between Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey was definitely a better game. The story was good, it provided you with a system that encouraged you to level up to the higher 60's and 70's at the least and it was a satisfying experience in the end. The problem is, it used a very outdated interface. What worked in the mid-90's doesn't exactly work in 2008 anymore. While we didn't MIND playing turn-based games back then due to the limitations in technology, we're a lot less forgiving now that...

I definitely wouldn't mind helping the publisher out here by paying some sort of monthly or yearly fee for PSN. Sure, it would make the PSN a ripoff of Xbox Live, but as long as we get content for our money, I don't see the problem. People would be pissed off but what can you do.

The problem is that people are buying the 360 not because it is a better machine but because 'their friends are on it.' It is a terrible piece of hardware as it relates to reliability and gives you a fraction of the PS3 functionality out of the box, but so many people have it that it's a given that people will continue to buy it.

It's very disappointing as it relates to Killzone 2. I have the game, haven't played it yet, but I'm convinced that it won't disappoint at all. Either way though, we shouldn't use sales numbers as an indicator of quality. After all, Wii Fit sells well as does the Wii itself.

Boy am I glad that my Xbox 360 fanboy days are over. Can Microsoft just stop pretending that everything is fine and dandy and simply rework the damned system? I know that they don't want to re-release the machine in a different form because it would cut into their accessory sales (accessories would not fit on the new console) but it's necessary. In its current form, the 360 : a) does not get enough air circulation inside, b) generates too much heat from its spinning DVD drive, c) does not dri...
