Actually no, they sold Rare because they wouldn't match the offer that MS made on them.
Due to Nintendo owning 49% of the stocks of the company, Rare was a 2nd party studio.
When Microsoft made an offer on all off the 100% of Rare stocks, Nintendo was allowed by some law to make the same offer on the company and acquire it for the same price.

The big issue with Goldeneye is that it's kinda like a licens within a licens. If I remember correctly, in order for a proper HD remake of the original true 007 GoldenEye game that was done by Rare, one would have to get not only the Bond licens, but also approval from the following parties:

They should just have called it "Mario Kart 8 Premium Pack".
I understand that the 'special edition' may indicate they will only be making these for a limited periode, but there is nothing fancy about the bundle. It's a standard Premium Wii U Conosole and a copy of Mario Kart 8, no special art on either the gamepad or console.

I think the reason they don't show the XB1 name/logo is that it's a japanes podcast and the XB1 console isn't out in Japan until September.
I live in Denmark (Scandinavia-Europe) and the XB1 isn't out here until september either, so all the advertisement for Titanfall only states 'out on Xbox 360 and PC'
So my bet is yeah, it is coming for the XB1 also.
I've always felt that DKR had more variety then MK. An island to explore, hidden secrets, great use of different vehicle types (Kart, Plane, Boat), great game modes and memorable (and sometimes insane) bossfights.
Besides, who doesn't love a game with a big Elephant that walks on 2 legs and can do magic!?
